Kumeu River, Village Pinot Gris, Kumeu 2021

The 2021 Pinot Gris Village from Kumeu River shows greater weight, texture and complexity than I've seen in previous years. Full in body and succulent in texture, there's a mere hint of sweetness (5g/L), tipping it into the off-dry category but it's hardly sweet, that adds flesh and embrace. There's an additional layer of aromatic interest, offering spice and an exotic, floral perfume and honey. Even in youth it's ready to drink with its welcoming fruit and gentle acidity.
