Brunello 2021 is a vintage to follow. As Eric Guido puts it, “There is something magical about the 2021 Brunellos.”
In the glass, the wines are fragrant, refined, and slender, built on freshness and elegance rather than weight. Red fruit, floral notes, and savoury detail come through clearly, with structure that feels precise. The wines are approachable now, yet balanced to age beautifully over the next 15 to 20 years. As Eric Guido says: ‘The 2021s are all about grace, vibrancy and purity. They also exhibit a beautiful sense of place, something that the wines from other warm vintages like 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2020 struggled to achieve.’
There is a real elegance to the vintage, with purity of fruit and clear terroir definition, and once again our growers shone across the board. We are also pleased to welcome Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona’s Pianrosso into the range this year.
All in all, 2021 is a cracking Brunello vintage, and one well worth paying attention to.
