The 2009 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Asinone is very young. Ripe dark cherries, flowers, menthol, licorice and spices burst from the glass in this exuberant yet well-balanced Asinone. Sweet roses, tobacco and new leather appear later, adding further complexity. The 2009 impresses for its compelling inner sweetness and fabulous sense of harmony. This is a great version of one of Montepulciano's true icons.
