Under the direction of Nicolas Potel, Domaine de Bellene brings together a thoughtful approach to vineyard work and a deep respect for the diversity of the Côte d’Or. Potel’s experience and intuition shine through in every cuvée, with a style that favours purity, freshness and clear expression of site. The domaine’s commitment to sustainable farming further enhances the natural harmony of the wines.
The wines are bright and energetic, with expressive fruit and quietly polished structure. Bellene continues to deliver Burgundy that feels honest, balanced and refreshingly unforced.
Domaine de Bellene is a relatively young name with older vines at its core. It was created in 2005 when Nicolas Potel, already a familiar figure in Burgundy, bought and revitalised a series of mature vineyards in the Côte de Beaune. Many of these parcels had been quietly producing good fruit for decades, and Potel saw the chance to give them a stronger individual voice. From the outset he paired sustainable farming with a restrained hand in the cellar, letting the age of the vines and the character of each site do most of the talking. The result is a domaine that feels rooted in history even though its label is still a recent arrival.
