Olivier Bernstein has earned a reputation for crafting some of the most luxurious and meticulously detailed wines in modern Burgundy. Working exclusively with old-vine fruit from top-tier premiers and grands crus, he creates cuvées that are sleek and tightly sculpted, offering depth without heaviness and a precision that speaks to the remarkable parcels he works with.
The style is generous yet controlled, with dark, finely textured fruit and a smooth, composed structure that gives each wine real presence. There is a quiet power to Bernstein’s bottlings, a sense of concentration delivered with elegance rather than force. He remains a standout for those who seek Burgundy that combines grandeur, focus and unmistakable refinement.
Olivier Bernstein took an unconventional route into Burgundy, arriving from careers in music and real estate with a determination to work at the very top level. In 2007 he founded his small négociant house with a bold premise: to source only old vine fruit from some of the region’s most illustrious premiers and grands crus. Building the necessary grower relationships took time and tact, but gradually he secured access to tiny quantities from sites such as Chambertin and Clos de la Roche. From the start he pursued a meticulous, almost couture approach in the cellar, focusing on small volumes and exacting detail. In little more than a decade and a half, that vision has turned his label into one of the most talked about modern names in Burgundy.
