Domaine Jean Grivot stands as one of Vosne-Romanée’s most respected estates, combining a strong family lineage with a purposeful, modern outlook. Étienne Grivot and his daughter Mathilde work with precision in the vineyard and a focused, measured hand in the cellar, always aiming to capture the essence of their exceptional holdings. Their commitment to balanced farming and gentle extraction results in wines of purity and structural finesse.
The wines show bright fruit, lifted aromatics and an elegant, finely woven tannic frame. There is a natural energy that brings the cuvées to life, from the expressive premier crus to the more layered grands crus. Grivot produces Burgundies that are confident, articulate and beautifully composed, offering a clear, contemporary expression of Vosne.
The Grivot family arrived in Vosne Romanée in the nineteenth century, but the estate’s current shape really began to form in the 1920s, when Gaston Grivot acquired key parcels that now sit at the heart of the domaine. His son Jean continued to add vineyards and oversaw a steady rise in reputation, handing over to his son Étienne in 1987. Étienne’s tenure brought a stronger focus on precision in both vineyard and cellar, and under his guidance the wines became ever more clearly etched. His daughter Mathilde now carries the story forward, representing a new generation that treats the family’s impressive holdings with a blend of respect and quiet ambition.
