Domaine Joseph Voillot represents the essence of classical Volnay and Pommard. Jean-Pierre Charlot’s stewardship has long been guided by calm expertise and deep respect for the land, resulting in wines that are beautifully judged and quietly expressive. The estate’s philosophy is built on simplicity in the best sense: careful farming, gentle extraction and a deep trust in the character of each site.
The wines offer gentle depth: red fruits, floral touches and a finely drawn structure that lingers without pushing. Voillot delivers a classical vision of Burgundy - graceful, composed and quietly compelling.
The Voillot family have been part of life in Volnay since the early twentieth century, although the domaine only began to take recognisable shape in the 1930s when Joseph Voillot started piecing together vineyards in both Volnay and Pommard. Over time he built a modest but well chosen collection of sites, which later passed to his son in law Jean Pierre Charlot. Jean Pierre brought his own calm authority to the estate, refining a style that prized balance and understatement. In recent years the baton has moved again to his nephew Etienne Chaix, who continues to farm and vinify in the same spirit. The domaine’s history is one of continuity and quiet confidence rather than headline grabbing change.
